St. Petersburg Academy of Science
The St. Petersburg Academy was founded by Emperor Peter 1 and Gottfried Willhelm von Leibniz from Russia in 1724. Both men wanted to promote education and science in Russia and came up with the idea of a school in St. Petersburg. The school brought many people to Russia and was a very positive addition to the country's capital. Now, the St. Petersburg Academy is not in St. Petersburg but it still exists. However, now it is known as the Russian Academy of Sciences.
