Elizaveta Petrovna

Elizaveta Petrovna, also known as Elizabeth, was the daughter of Peter the Great and Aunt to Peter 11 (who was tutored by Christian Goldbach). When Ivan VI got the throne, she wasn't pleased. So, she imprisoned him and took the throne. Ivan was born in 1740 and became Emperor in 1740, so he was only a couple months old. This meant, once a form of government made her Empress, she had the power to do whatever she wanted with him and be the ruler. Ivan and his family were banished and sent to many different fortresses. Ivan grew up for twelve years, isolated from his family with only his jailer. The poor boy never got the life he was expected to have. After becoming the Empress, Elizabeth ruled for twenty years.
